Dinner Conversation

Sydney had a color change at school today. For the 2 readers of this blog that aren't teachers, this is a color card system for behavior. Green is good, yellow is a warning, orange is bad, and red is really bad. Sydney went to orange today. She's been to red so don't be too shocked. She actually does stay on green most days and for Sydney, yellow's pretty okay in our book. So here's how our dinner conversation went:

Me: So you had a rough day, huh?
Sydney: Yeah, I did.
Me: What happened?
Sydney: My listening voice went on vacation.
Me: Really? Wow!
Sydney: Yes, and it hasn't come back.

I hope this listening voice returns soon.

Big Hair, Big Fun, Big Teeth

Now you must be interested in this post just by the title. This post could not be any more boring as you will surely see if you keep reading. It is a sad day when your kid brushing his teeth makes it to the blog. That is exactly how boring things are around our house. It just so happens the camera was in the bathroom (I know you are wondering but I don't know why) so I snapped a few pics. Syd's hair was just too funny not to capture on camera - I'm thinking this camera in the bathroom thing is really working for me. Finally on Sunday we went to the park. Nothing big like the title suggests... just the park.

I'm not really sure how Syd's hair got like this. I just kept poofing it up (no teasing required, it's actually that puffy).

And please - when this kid starts rubbing his chest for please, it is really hard to say know. It is so darn cute.

Sydney has on the "extra" outfit that has been in her school cubbie for a year. You all know I am way too cheap to have a cute outfit in the cubbie as a back up. These shorts are hideous!

Yes, we are still here!

I'm not sure the 4 people who use to read this blog are still out there since it's been so long since I've posted. But rest assured, I'm still around. We've had a crazy few weeks. Sydney and Sam started new classes at preschool. Sam is in a big boy class now - he eats at a real table and sleeps on a cot. And little Miss Sydney started pre-k at her school. She has done a great job this week. She has stayed on green (they have color changing cards for behavior) everyday this week. She is one of a few kids that has 4 stickers! I refuse to question what is going on in the class because this is amazing. Do you think the teacher could be sprinkling a little pharmaceutical enhancement in her morning snack? Maybe she's magic... or maybe Sydney just loves her pre-k class. So far so good! As most of you know, I opened an elementary school this week. Whew! That made for a busy week. So these pictures are just random shots from nothing exciting!

Sam has always been a picky eater and not much of an eater at all. But the last 2 weeks, this child will not stop eating. It is really weird. He just won't stop. Truly, his doctor made us "fatten him up" at one time. Now he's an eating machine. I tried to snap a few pics of his belly because it is getting huge (the pics don't do it justice). He is long and lean so it's really funny to see this round belly coming off this skinny body. Sam is in the 50th percentile for his height and less than 3rd percentile for weight. I hope the weight starts to even out! But after a really bad case of the stomach bug, Sam could afford to pack on a few more lbs. He has discovered that patting his tummy makes a really fun sound.

I'm sure Syd will not appreciate these pictures one day. But she just had to wear these pink socks to bed the other day. There was a song and dance that went along.
I really didn't see much of the kiddos this week because I worked some pretty crazy hours. I was leaving before Sam woke up and a few nights got home after he went to bed. So on Friday night, it was nice to just hang out. The kids had a pillow fight with Kyle. It was really cute. Sam could barely lift the pillow over his head, but he gave it heck trying! So the next few pics are just good times at the Nayfa house. WARNING! My house is a MESS - see comment about crazy work hours.

Kyle did not want me to post these pictures, but luckily he doesn't read this blog and is not the one in charge of preserving our family memories through photos so too bad for him. Sam loves this little wristlet I have. He also loves the diaper bag. It is so funny! He will put it on his arm or shoulder and walk away waving bye. Not Kyle's proudest moment, but I think it's pretty darn cute!

Poor Budders!

Poor Budders (that's what I call Sam - no reason except for that Kyle and Sydney always call him Buddy so I changed it to Budders). Sam has been sick ALL week with a stomach bug. He hadn't eaten anything since Wednesday. So this morning I gave him a little baby food. He doesn't eat baby food anymore, but I thought the bananas would be easy on his system. Within minutes, it came back up. So I decided that 8 days of this was enough. So I put him in the car and drove to downtown FTW to Cook Children's ER. Why is it when you take your child to the doctor and they've been really sick they pick the moment the doctor enters to look fine and act perfectly charming? The doctor was so nice and we didn't even wait. No one is there on Sunday mornings so I highly advise you try to schedule your emergencies on Sunday mornings. But they said his little system is out of sorts. He is over the stomach bug but can't get his tummy back to normal. So she gave us some anti-nausea medicine and away we went! He actually kept some food down tonight so I think we are headed in the right direction. Sam is a trooper... it's his mom that was passed her limit on nasty diapers! I usually don't worry, but sometimes when you aren't are a worrier, you worry about not being worried. All is well and getting back to normal at Casa Nayfa. Here's picture I snapped of Sam in his gown. He is so cute even when he feels like crap.

Party Time

Sydney went to a birthday party today for one of her favorite friends - MAEBRY :) Jami and I taught together while our kids stayed with the same amazing lady. I can't believe Maebry is turning 5. She's headed to kindergarten in a few weeks. WOW! Big girls, growing up. The party was at ASI gymnastics in Keller. It was so much fun. The best part - the guys that work there did EVERYTHING! Entertainment, presents, serving the cake, etc. I had a great time catching up with some great girls I use to teach with. Sydney had a great time with friends that she doesn't get to see that often anymore.

Sydney, Layne, and Allie - Layne and Allie also stayed with the same lady everyday.

As I was getting on the computer, Kyle called for me to come see Sydney. I guess she was really tired today.
